# How do I delete my account?

> Delete your account under Account & security. Cancel any subscription first. Deletion is permanent and the email is free to use again after about seven days.

## Before you delete

- **Cancel your subscription.** Deleting the account does not cancel a Pro subscription in the App Store, Google Play or Paddle. See *How do I cancel my Knowunity Pro subscription?*
- **Save anything you need.** Your uploads, folders, streak and progress are removed and cannot be restored.
- If you only want a break, you can simply sign out instead.

## Delete the account in the app

1. Open your profile and tap the gear icon to open **Settings**.
2. Tap **Account & privacy**, then **Account & security**.
3. Scroll to the **Danger zone** and tap **Delete account**.
4. Choose a reason and confirm with **Delete my account**.

## What happens next

- Your profile and uploads disappear immediately.
- The remaining data is fully anonymised within about seven days.
- You can sign up again with the same email once the deletion is complete, which usually takes around seven days.

Deletion cannot be undone, even within those seven days.

## I cannot sign in to delete the account

Recover access first, see *I cannot sign in to my account*. If that is impossible, [contact support](https://knowunity.com/support) from the email address on the account so that we can verify it is yours.

## A parent deleting a child's account

Sign in to the child's account and follow the steps above. If you do not know the credentials, contact support from the email address registered on the account.
