# What are classes and how do I use them?

> Classes keep chats, saved answers, study tools and uploads for one subject together. School accounts open them from the profile or the AI chat menu, and folders now ask you to move your content into a class.

Use **Classes** to keep chats, study tools and uploads together by subject. You have one class per subject. Classes are for school accounts in the app. University accounts do not have Classes. If you do not see them on a school account, update the app.

## Find your classes

Open your profile and tap the **Classes** tab, or open **Classes** in the AI chat menu. Some students have only one of the two. This is being tested; you cannot choose, and support cannot change it.

The **Liked** items you saved before are now under **Settings**, in **Likes**.

## Add a class

- In Classes, tap **Add a class**, pick one or more subjects and confirm.
- If you have no classes yet, the app may show **Add your classes** when you open it.

You cannot add a second class for a subject you already have.

## Save to a class

Tap **Save** under an AI answer, a note, a quiz or a flashcard set. If the app is not sure which class it belongs to, it opens **Save to class** so you can choose.

## Upload your own material

1. Open the class and go to the **Saved** tab.
2. Tap **Upload**.
3. Choose **Take photo**, **Choose photo** or **Upload PDF**.

You can add up to 10 photos or PDFs at a time. Each PDF can have up to 50 pages. Split longer PDFs into smaller files.

## Find saved items

Scroll towards the top of the **Saved** tab to reveal **Search items**. Use the filter button to choose an item type.

## Folders are being replaced by Classes

In the app, folders now show **Folders will be discontinued.** Move what you need into a class:

1. Open the folder, or select it from your saved content on your profile.
2. Tap **Select Class** and choose a class.
3. Confirm the move. Tap **Open class** to see the saved items.

Your original content stays in the folder. The result tells you if any items are not supported by Classes.

## Remove items or delete a class

- To remove items, select them in the **Saved** tab and tap **Unsave**. You can undo this straight away.
- To delete a whole class, open the class settings and tap **Delete class**, then **Delete everything**. This deletes the files you saved in that class.

## Good to know

Classes are only in the app for now, not on the website. If something does not work, use the [support form](https://knowunity.com/support) under *A technical problem* and attach a screenshot.
