July - November 1917: 3rd Battle of Ypres 7 November - December 1917: cambrai trenches • formed in a zig-zag pattern. • frontline launched aHaCKS support where troops would retreat to from frontline • reserve where troops were stationed for counter attack 'communication linked all the trenches. •dugouts places where soldiers took cover : . injuries and illnesses •gas attacks: caused burns and blindness • head injunes: caused by shrapnel - Brodie helmets reduced them • shell shock had a wide range of symptoms and people suffering. were accused of cowardice trench fever: caused by lice and had flu-like symptoms. • French foot : caused by standing in waterlogged trenches and led to gangrene • bullets: penetrated organs and fractured bones. • high explosive shells and shrapnel caused most deaths rame and fany The Royal Army medical core. first Aid Nursing Yeamanry chain of evacuation @Regimental Aid Post : •close to front line • helped by stretcher bearers 3 casuairy cleaning stations: ·several miles from frontline. • staffed by doctors and nurses • treated life threatening injuries ·most important place for reducing risk of infection until march 1918 ( Feeld Ambulance + Dressing stations. ·mobile medical unit of RAMC ·looked after men for a...
