Cell Division and Mitosis
Think of mitosis as nature's photocopying machine - it creates exact duplicates of cells when your body needs them. The process follows a simple cycle: growth, DNA copying, division, and splitting into two identical cells.
Here's how it works: a parent cell with pairs of chromosomes makes copies of its DNA, lines up all the chromosomes in the centre, then pulls the copies to opposite ends before splitting into two daughter cells. Each new cell has exactly the same genetic information as the original.
Your body uses mitosis for three main reasons: growth (making new cells as you get bigger), repair (fixing damaged tissues when you're injured), and development (creating specialised cells as different body parts form).
Remember: Mitosis only happens in body cells, not in sex cells (gametes). In plants, this process occurs in special areas called meristems.
Stem Cells - The Ultimate Shape-Shifters
Stem cells are like blank templates that can become any type of cell your body needs - they're unspecialised cells with amazing potential. They can divide through mitosis and then transform into blood cells, skin cells, nerve cells, or whatever your body requires.
There are two main types: embryonic stem cells can become absolutely any cell type, whilst adult stem cells (mostly found in bone marrow) are more limited and usually only make specific types like blood cells.
The medical possibilities are incredible - stem cells could treat diabetes, paralysis, and other conditions by replacing damaged cells. Therapeutic cloning involves creating cloned embryos to harvest perfectly matched stem cells that won't be rejected by a patient's immune system.

Plant Stem Cells and Cloning
Plants have their own version of stem cells located in meristems - special growth areas at the tips of shoots and roots. These cells keep dividing to help plants grow taller and their roots spread deeper.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming.
