# THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

The nervow system is made up of different parts:

Central Nervow system ((NS)→ this consists of the brain
and spinal C

The Nervous System Structure

Your nervous system has two main parts that work together like a perfectly coordinated team. The central nervous system (CNS) includes your brain and spinal cord - think of this as mission control for your entire body.

The real magic happens through specialised cells called neurons. Sensory neurons are like messengers that carry information from your senses (what you see, hear, feel) straight to your CNS as electrical impulses. Meanwhile, motor neurons do the opposite job - they carry commands from your CNS to your muscles and glands.

Your receptors are the clever cells that detect changes in your environment (like heat, light, or sound), whilst effectors (your muscles and glands) actually respond to these signals by creating movement or releasing chemicals. It's like having thousands of tiny sensors and response units working 24/7.

Quick Tip: Remember the pathway - Stimulus → Receptor → Sensory neuron → CNS → Motor neuron → Effector → Response!

Synapses are the gaps between neurons where the magic really happens. Since electrical signals can't jump across gaps, your body releases special chemicals that diffuse across and trigger new electrical signals in the next neuron.

Reflex Arc - Your Body's Emergency System

Ever pulled your hand away from something hot before you even realised it was burning? That's your reflex arc in action - your body's built-in emergency response system that completely bypasses your conscious brain.

Here's how this lightning-fast process works: When a stimulus hits (like a bee sting), your receptors detect it instantly and fire impulses along a sensory neuron. These impulses race to a relay neuron in your spinal cord, where chemicals are released at the synapse to continue the signal.

The relay neuron then connects to a motor neuron through another synapse, releasing more chemicals to keep the message moving. Finally, the impulses zoom along the motor neuron to your effector muscle, which contracts and pulls your hand away from danger.

Remember: Reflex arcs are faster than normal responses because they skip your conscious brain entirely - no thinking required!

The brilliant thing about reflexes is their speed. Since your brain doesn't need to process "Should I move my hand?", the whole response happens in milliseconds. It's like having a direct hotline between your senses and muscles for emergency situations.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! In the end I think it’s worth it 😊👍 ⚠️Also DID I MENTION ITS FREEE YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING AND STILL GET YOUR GRADES IN PERFECTLY❗️❗️⚠️

Knowunity is the BEST app I’ve used in a minute. This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming. I love it and my mom is just happy I got good grades

I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend
