O Question: "Snow seems like it is picturesque, exciting and fun but in reality it causes accidents, inconvenience and economic distruptions." Write an Article for a newspaper in which you explain your point of view on this issue; THE WHITE STUFF: Picture this: waking to the gleaming radiance of light unsual on a dismal February morning. 7am and time for shower, shreadding and shool. But, perhaps not this morning... Through the blinds, the intensity of light penetrating your bedroom means only one thing: snow. Up you jump. throw open the window and see the usually grimy London pavements camouflaged in that pristine, crisp, cleanliness of freshly fallen snow. Heaven on earth. Today will be a good day: a great day! Why does snowfall excite even the most pessimist of people? Quite simply, it takes us back to our childhoods. We remember gathering with friends or family to trash each other with snowballs, trying not to fall flat. These are the memories that have obliterated the frozen hands, bruised knees and sting of a snowball on our cheek. In our imaginations, it is Christmas Day [the Christmas Days that only exist in films and adverts of course]. Mother Nture has sent her gift that makes adults peaceful and children elated. we are alone and elderly? Is snow always a gift from God? Snow can make getting through the day a practical nightmare. Trying to get to the shops to top up the milk and breads is an obstacle course completed in what feels like impossible high heels. Drivers sliding and skidding menacingly, narrowly avoiding colliding with each other - or worse, with pedestrians. Buses and trains unable to complete their journeys leaving workers stranded in the refrigerated air. Nurses and doctors powerless to get to work on a day when the A&E departments need them most. Perhaps, the, those tiny frozen particles of moisture covering our byways are not the gift we imagine. But that is the adult world of responsability. For now, I will maintain my youthful innocence and embrance the snow. I will pray for that message from school that the teachers can't get in and I can stay at home and re-live my childhood. Spending my day frozen and eventually drenched, pelting my brother with those stinging bundles of white fluff like I am five years old again. Today will be a magnificent day! So all of you who dread the journey to work or school, fear the roads and worry about sliding perilously in your smooth-soled shoes - abandon responsability. Throw in your wellies and build a snowman, slide and skid on the ice and laugh when you fall. Re- live your childhood. Embrace the fall. Snow is, after all, a gift from God. Heaven on earth.
