Abraham and Moses Abraham: 1. Abraham leaves his home to go to Canaan, aka the Promise Land. God asked Abraham to be a role model for others. 2. God names Abraham as the father of many and promises Abraham and Sarah a son, the covenant is sealed with Abraham's circumcision. 3. Abraham and Sarah have a son and name it Isaac. 4. God give Abraham 10 tests of faith, his final test is the sacrifice of his son, Isaac 5. Abraham decides to sacrifice his son, this shows God that he has the faith to follow in his father's footsteps and sends an angel to stop him Jewish people still carry out circumcision to this day Abraham is seen as the founder or the first Patriarch of Judaism Moses: 1. Moses led the Jews from slavery in Egypt, Exodos 2. He was on his way to Canaan with the Slaves and God made a covenant with him at Mount Sinai 3. He was given the 10 commandments to live by, they contain important guidance on how to have a good relationship with God and how to create a peaceful society with other people These commandments are still followed today by the Jewish community, some more strictly than others
