Ever wondered why the periodic table looks the way it does? Dmitri Mendeleev, a Russian scientist, created the periodic table we use today by arranging elements according to their atomic mass. What made him truly brilliant was that he left gaps in his table for elements that hadn't been discovered yet - and he was right!
The periodic table organises elements so that those with similar properties line up in columns called groups. This means you can predict how an element might behave just by looking at its position on the table.
Quick Tip Think of the periodic table like a giant filing system - everything has its proper place based on specific rules!
Here's where things get interesting - some elements can exist in different forms called isotopes. These are versions of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons, which changes their atomic mass.
Take carbon as an example there's carbon with an atomic mass of 12 and carbon with an atomic mass of 14. They're both carbon, but they have slightly different weights because of those extra neutrons.
Remember Isotopes are like different sized versions of the same thing - same element, different mass!
Every element on the periodic table follows the same format, making it easy to find key information quickly. Each element box shows the atomic number at the top, the element symbol in the middle, the element name below that, and the atomic mass at the bottom.
Looking at hydrogen as an example it has atomic number 1, the symbol H, and an atomic mass of 1.008. Once you know this pattern, you can read any element on the periodic table like a pro.
Pro Tip The atomic number tells you how many protons the element has - this never changes for each element!

This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming.
