Rizal's Early Travels (1882-1884)
Rizal's international adventure began on May 9, 1882, when he arrived in Singapore—his first stop on the way to Spain. Traveling under the passport name "Jose Mercado," he boarded the ship Djemnah to continue his journey. Just a month later, on June 11, he briefly stepped foot in Naples, Italy—his first taste of European soil.
By August 20, 1882, Rizal reached Barcelona, Spain, achieving a significant milestone when his article "Amor Patrio" (Love of Country) was published in a Manila newspaper. This marked his first published work abroad, launching his career as a writer on the international stage.
After moving to Madrid in September 1882, Rizal pursued medical studies at the Universidad Central while also taking classes in philosophy and learning multiple languages. His talents quickly became evident when, in October, he performed a poem "Me piden versus" at a gathering of the Circulo Hispano-Filipino, demonstrating his literary abilities.
Did you know? Even while broke and hungry, Rizal won a gold medal in a Greek Language contest at the university. That same evening, he finally got to eat as a guest speaker at a banquet honoring Filipino artists!
January 1884 proved crucial for Filipino literature when Rizal proposed publishing a book to the Circulo members—this idea would eventually become his famous novel Noli Me Tangere, a work that would forever change Philippine history.
Rizal in Europe (1884-1887)
While in Madrid in July 1884, Rizal made a bold political move by explaining the term "Filibusterismo" in the journal El Progreso. This wasn't just academic discussion—he was directly challenging Spanish authorities by demanding press freedom and representation for Filipinos in the Spanish government. His writings were beginning to reflect his growing passion for his homeland's rights.
By April 1886, Rizal had moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where his homesickness inspired the beautiful poem "A Las Flores de Heidelberg" (To the Flowers of Heidelberg). Though surrounded by the beauty of Germany, his thoughts remained with his family and country, showing how deeply his patriotism ran even while abroad.
The culmination of Rizal's European journey came on March 21, 1887, in Berlin, when his novel Noli Me Tangere was finally published. He sent a copy to Professor Blumentritt, describing it as "the first objective and brave book written on the Tagalogs' lives." Rizal was well aware of the controversy his work would cause, correctly predicting that both Spanish authorities and friars would attack it.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming.
