Mean (Average)
What is mean?
Mean is that average or norm of a data set?
● How do you solve the mean?
1
1. Add all your numbers together to get the total.
2. Divide the total of the numbers by all the numbers you added.
3. Then you have your mean.
EX:
1. 5+7+8+10+11 = 41
2. 41/5 8.2
3. Your mean is 8.2 (Or rounded to 8.)
Median (Middle)
Median is possibly the easiest to solve of the three. To find the Median, follow these steps. 1. Count the numbers till you get to the middle (5+7+8+10+11)
2. Once you've done that you have found your Median.
3. But, if you end up in the middle of two numbers, add both of them, then divide by
two. (1.5+7+8+10+11+50) (2. 8+10=18) (3. 18/2 = 9)
Mode (Most)
Mode is just the number that appears the most. Here's how you find it.
1. Set up your data set (9,9,8,0,4,7,10)
2.
Find the number you see most. (9,9,8,0,4,7,10)
3. There can be more one Mode so watch out! (9,9,8,0,0,4,7,10)
