When people mention "statistics," they're often referring to various methods of interpreting data. Scientists typically use two main types: descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
These statistical tools help answer real-world questions with evidence rather than just intuition or assumptions.

Why Use Statistics?
Imagine trying to determine which snake species is longer: Green Anacondas or Reticulated Pythons. This seemingly simple question actually requires statistical analysis.
Just stating that one species is longer than the other doesn't tell the whole story. We need to examine multiple specimens and analyze their measurements systematically.
Statistics helps us navigate beyond simple questions to understand if observed differences are meaningful or just chance variations.

When we look at measurements from both snake species, we can calculate that Green Anacondas have a mean length of 21.0 feet, while Reticulated Pythons average 22.6 feet.
