Blood is the vital fluid that keeps your body functioning,... Show more

Ever wonder what makes blood so special? It's the only fluid tissue in your body, meaning it has both liquid and solid components. Blood is heavier than water, has a salty taste, and changes color based on oxygen levels—bright scarlet when oxygen-rich and dull red when oxygen-poor.
Blood consists of two main parts: the liquid plasma and the formed elements floating in it. Plasma is mostly water containing dissolved nutrients, salts, gases, hormones, and waste products. It also contains important plasma proteins like albumin, which are manufactured by your liver and help transport molecules through your bloodstream.
The most numerous blood cells are erythrocytes (red blood cells), which carry oxygen to your tissues. Interestingly, these cells have no nucleus or mitochondria, allowing them to pack in more hemoglobin—the protein that binds to oxygen and gives blood its red color. The percentage of blood volume occupied by red blood cells is called the hematocrit.
Fun Fact: Red blood cells make energy without using oxygen, even though they're responsible for carrying oxygen to the rest of your body!

Your blood contains warriors that protect you from harm—leukocytes (white blood cells). These immune cells hunt down and destroy invaders like bacteria, viruses, parasites, and even tumor cells. Unlike red blood cells, white blood cells can leave blood vessels (a process called diapedesis) and use chemotaxis to locate damaged tissues by detecting chemical signals.
White blood cells fall into two main categories: granulocytes and agranulocytes. Granulocytes include neutrophils (which "eat" bacteria), eosinophils (which fight parasites), and basophils (which release histamine to trigger inflammation). Agranulocytes include lymphocytes (found in lymphatic tissue) and monocytes, which transform into macrophages that clean up infections.
Your blood also contains cell fragments called platelets, which are essential for stopping bleeding. These tiny structures come from large cells called megakaryocytes and spring into action when you're injured, forming blood clots to seal wounds and prevent excessive blood loss.
Remember This: The most to least abundant white blood cells can be remembered with "Never Let Monkeys Eat Bananas" (Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils).

Sometimes blood doesn't work as it should. Anemia occurs when your blood carries less oxygen than normal, either because you have fewer red blood cells or because they contain less hemoglobin. The opposite condition, polycythemia, happens when you have too many red blood cells, which can make your blood too thick and affect circulation.
Sickle cell anemia is a genetic condition where hemoglobin becomes deformed when oxygen levels drop. This causes red blood cells to take on a crescent or "sickle" shape, making it harder for them to flow through small blood vessels. Interestingly, people with just one copy of this gene (called sickle cell trait) don't develop the disease but have some protection against malaria.
White blood cell disorders include leukocytosis (too many white blood cells, often a normal response to infection) and leukopenia (too few white blood cells, sometimes caused by medications). Leukemia is a cancer where bone marrow produces abnormal white blood cells that can't fight infection properly. These immature cells flood the bloodstream, crowding out healthy blood cells and leaving patients vulnerable to infections and anemia.
Important: Not all blood abnormalities are harmful—some, like the temporary increase in white blood cells during infection, are actually your body's way of fighting disease!

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! In the end I think it’s worth it 😊👍 ⚠️Also DID I MENTION ITS FREEE YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING AND STILL GET YOUR GRADES IN PERFECTLY❗️❗️⚠️

I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend
