Proteins are large biomolecules essential for life. They're made up of amino acid chains that fold into specific shapes to perform their functions.
These incredible molecules are the workhorses of your body, handling everything from building muscle to fighting disease. Without proteins, your body simply couldn't function properly.

Amino Acids - The Building Blocks
Proteins are large biomolecules made from chains of amino acid residues. These chains can be incredibly long and complex.
There are 20 different types of amino acids that combine in countless ways to create all the proteins your body needs. Think of amino acids like letters in an alphabet - just 20 letters can create an endless variety of "words" (proteins).
Proteins handle the structure, function, and regulation of your body's cells, tissues, and organs. Without them, you wouldn't be able to move, digest food, or fight off infections.
Remember: Proteins are like the body's multitool - they can do almost anything your cells need done!
The 20 Amino Acids
Your body uses 20 different amino acids to build all the proteins you need. Each has a full name and an abbreviation (like "ala" for alanine or "A" for short).

Transport and Storage Proteins
