Understanding Energy and Its Forms
Energy is simply the ability to make things happen - whether that's lighting up your room or moving a tricycle down the street. Think of it as the "power" behind everything that works in your daily life.
Any matter that stores this power is called fuel. Here's something cool: energy follows the Law of Conservation of Energy, which means energy never disappears - it just changes from one form to another, like when you eat rice (chemical energy) and use it to play basketball (kinetic energy).
Renewable resources are nature's gift that keeps on giving. These energy sources naturally replenish themselves quickly, currently providing about 16% of Earth's energy needs.
Solar energy comes directly from the sun and powers everything from plants through photosynthesis to your calculator. The Philippines has great examples like SACASOL in Negros Occidental - a 22-megawatt solar plant that converts sunlight into electricity without creating pollution.

Geothermal energy taps into Earth's natural heat. The word comes from Greek: "geo" (Earth) + "therme" (heat). The BacMan Geothermal Power Plant in Albay and Sorsogon shows how the Philippines uses volcanic activity for clean electricity production.
Water, Wind, and Biomass Power
Hydroelectric energy harnesses flowing water to generate electricity. Picture this: water flows from mountains to valleys, spinning turbines that create the power lighting up your home. The Ambuklao Hydroelectric Plant in Benguet was our country's first, proving that moving water can power entire communities without air pollution.
The process is actually pretty straightforward - falling water spins turbines (kinetic to mechanical energy), then generators convert that spinning motion into electricity (mechanical to electrical energy).
Wind energy starts with uneven heating of Earth's surface, creating air movement we can capture. Historical windmills ground grain and pumped water, but today's wind farms generate electricity. The famous Bangui Wind Farm showcases how coastal winds can power thousands of homes across the Philippines.
🌪️ Fun fact: Wind energy is actually a form of solar energy since the sun's uneven heating creates wind patterns!
Biomass energy comes from burning organic materials like wood, crops, and even animal waste. This renewable resource is abundant in our agricultural country. San Carlos Biopower represents one of the Philippines' largest biomass power stations, turning organic waste into useful electricity while reducing methane emissions that would otherwise harm the atmosphere.
Non-Renewable Energy Sources
Non-renewable resources can't be replaced quickly once we use them up, yet they still provide 84% of Earth's energy consumption. These resources took millions of years to form but can be used up in decades.
Nuclear energy uses uranium fuel in power plants to generate massive amounts of electricity. The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant remains a significant part of Philippine energy history, though it never operated commercially due to safety concerns and public opposition.
Fossil fuels - coal, oil, and natural gas - formed from ancient plants and animals over millions of years. Ironically, these fuels originally got their energy from the sun through photosynthesis, making them stored solar energy from prehistoric times.
Coal burns as a solid black rock fuel. The Mariveles Coal-Fired Power Plant in Bataan demonstrates how coal generates electricity, though it produces air pollution. Natural gas burns cleaner than other fossil fuels - the San Lorenzo facility in Batangas uses gas turbines to generate 500MW of electrical power efficiently.
⚠️ Reality check: While fossil fuels currently power most of our world, they're running out and contribute to climate change.
Oil and diesel power transportation and electricity generation. Companies like Millenium Energy Inc. are expanding their 620MW Limay plant in Bataan while exploring alternatives to diesel fuel, showing how the energy industry adapts to changing needs.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming.
