La dernière confession de Julien
Dans cet extrait du chapitre 41 intitulé "Le jugement", Julien Sorel s'adresse aux jurés avec une stratégie surprenante. Au lieu de défendre sa cause, il choisit d'assumer pleinement son crime tout en exposant les inégalités sociales qui ont marqué son parcours.
Julien commence par une formule d'adresse solennelle "Messieurs les jurés" tout en établissant immédiatement une distance avec eux. La répétition de "Messieurs" et l'utilisation de la négation "je n'ai point l'honneur d'appartenir à votre classe" créent une opposition claire entre lui, simple paysan, et les juges issus des classes supérieures.
