La Méditerranée, un espace d'affrontements
La Méditerranée au Moyen Âge était dominée par trois grandes civilisations :
- L'Occident chrétien (Europe de l'Ouest)
- L'Empire byzantin (à l'Est)
- Le monde musulman (au Sud et à l'Est)
Les croisades et le djihad
En 1095, le pape Urbain II lance un appel à la croisade pour libérer Jérusalem des musulmans. Il promet le pardon des péchés à ceux qui partiraient combattre en Terre sainte.
Concept clé : Une croisade est une expédition guerrière menée par les chrétiens d'Occident pour reconquérir la Terre sainte occupée par les musulmans.
En réponse aux croisades, les musulmans organisent le djihad, considéré comme un devoir religieux pour défendre les territoires islamiques contre les envahisseurs chrétiens.
Chronologie des principaux affrontements
- 1095 : Appel à la croisade par le pape Urbain II
- 1099 : Prise de Jérusalem par les croisés et création des États latins d'Orient
- 1187 : Reprise de Jérusalem par Saladin
- 1202-1204 : Quatrième croisade et pillage de Constantinople
- 1291 : Disparition des États latins d'Orient
La Reconquista
Parallèlement aux croisades en Orient, les chrétiens mènent la Reconquista dans la péninsule ibérique pour reprendre les territoires occupés par les musulmans.
À noter : Les relations entre chrétiens et musulmans au Moyen Âge étaient complexes, alternant entre périodes de conflits (croisades, djihad) et moments d'échanges pacifiques.

Conquêtes et reconquêtes en Méditerranée
Les musulmans ont connu une forte expansion territoriale entre le VIIe et le XIe siècle, s'emparant notamment de Jérusalem. Suite à l'appel du Pape Urbain II en 1095, la première croisade aboutit en 1099 à la prise de Jérusalem et à la création des États latins d'Orient.
Ces territoires chrétiens en terre musulmane ne perdureront pas, car les musulmans contre-attaquent dans le cadre du djihad. Parallèlement, en Espagne, la Reconquista permet aux rois catholiques de reprendre progressivement les territoires aux musulmans.
Le cas exemplaire de la Sicile
Exemple historique : La Sicile représente un cas fascinant de coexistence entre chrétiens et musulmans en Méditerranée médiévale.
La Sicile a connu plusieurs dominations :
- 535-827 : Domination byzantine
- 827-1091 : Domination musulmane
- À partir de 1091 : Conquête par les Normands
Sous le règne de Guillaume II (1166-1189), la cohabitation entre musulmans et chrétiens était remarquable :
- Les musulmans conservaient leurs mosquées et leurs marchés

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend

Best app if you're in Highschool or Junior high. I have been using this app for 2 school years and it's the best, it's good if you don't have anyone to help you with school work.😋🩷🎀

This app is phenomenal down to the correct info and the various topics you can study! I greatly recommend it for people who struggle with procrastination and those who need homework help. It has been perfectly accurate for world 1 history as far as I’ve seen! Geometry too!
