Mga Konseptong Pangwika at Kasaysayan ng Wikang Pambansa
Alam mo ba na ang salitang "wika" ay galing sa Latin na "lingua" na ibig sabihin ay dila? Ang wika kasi ay isa sa pinakamahalagang instrumento natin sa komunikasyon - hindi lang para mag-express ng feelings, kundi para makakuha at magbahagi ng impormasyon.
Maraming scholars ang nag-define ng wika. Si Henry Allan Gleason Jr. ang nagsabing ito ay "masistemang balangkas ng mga tunog," habis si Charles Darwin naman ay tinuring itong isang sining. Simple lang - ang wika ay sistema ng komunikasyon na may tunog, salita, at grammar.
Ang Pilipinas ay may 182 wika at diyalekto! Kaya hindi biro ang journey natin papunta sa pagkakaroon ng wikang pambansa. Noong 1935, naging official si Tagalog bilang batayan ng wikang pambansa dahil ito ang wika ng sentro ng pamahalaan, edukasyon, kalakalan, at may pinakamaraming literatura.
Alam mo ba: Ang timeline ng wikang pambansa ay nag-evolve mula sa Tagalog (1937) → Pilipino (1959) → Filipino (1972)!
Teorya ng Wika at Austronesian Origins
Curious ka ba kung saan nagmula ang wika? May ilang teorya ng wika na interesting tingnan. Yung Teoryang Bow-wow ay nagsasabing galing sa tunog ng mga hayop ang wika, habis yung Teoryang Pooh-pooh naman ay sa mga tunog na ginagawa natin kapag may malakas na emotion.
Sa kasaysayan natin, may dalawang major theories tungkol sa pinagmulan ng mga Pilipino. Yung Wave Migration Theory ni Henry Otley Beyer (1916) ay nagsasabing tatlong pangkat ang naging ancestors natin: Negrito, Indones, at Malay.
Pero mas recent discovery ay yung Taong Tabon sa Palawan noong 1962. Si Dr. Robert B. Fox ang natagpuan to, na nagpatunay na mas maaga pang dumating sa Pilipinas ang tao kaysa sa Malaysia.
Ngayon, ang pinakabagong teorya ay yung Austronesian origin. Ang salitang "Austronesian" ay galing sa Latin na "auster" (south wind) at "nesos" (isla), na nagpapatunay na islanders talaga tayo mula pa noon!
Fun Fact: Marunong na pala sumulat at bumasa ang mga katutubo bago pa dumating ang mga Espanyol!
Monolingguwalismo, Bilingguwalismo, at Multilingguwalismo
Tignan natin ang iba't ibang paraan ng paggamit ng wika sa isang bansa. Monolingguwalismo ay kapag iisang wika lang ang ginagamit sa lahat ng aspeto ng buhay - edukasyon, business, komunikasyon, lahat!
Ang bilingguwalismo naman ay mas complex. Ayon kay Leonard Bloomfield, ang "perpektong bilingguwal" ay yung taong parang native speaker sa dalawang wika. Pero si John Macnamara naman ay mas flexible - basta may kakayahan ka sa isa sa apat na skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) sa pangalawang wika, bilingguwal ka na.
Dito sa Pilipinas, multilingguwal tayo dahil sa 182 wika at diyalekto natin! Kaya nga may Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education para sa Kinder hanggang Grade 3, para mas madaling matuto ang mga bata.
Noong 1974, naging official ang bilingual instruction sa bansa natin - Ingles at Filipino ang medium ng pagtuturo. Ito yung naging foundation ng educational system natin ngayon.
Reality Check: Balanced bilingual ka ba? Yun yung taong hindi mo na matukoy kung alin ang first at second language mo!
Barayti ng Wika at Register
Sa mundo ng linguistics, hindi lahat ng komunidad ay homogenous (iisang wika lang). Madalas heterogeneous tayo - may iba't ibang uri ng wika sa isang lugar.
Ang idyolek ay personal mong way ng pagsasalita - parang trademark mo. Yung dayalek naman ay regional, like Tagalog-Batangas vs. Tagalog-Cavite. May sosyolek din tayo na ginagamit ng specific groups tulad ng conyo talk at gay lingo.
Interesting din yung pidgin at creole. Ang pidgin ay walang pormal na structure - parang broken language. Pero kapag naging creole na, may proper structure na tulad ng Chavacano na halo ng Tagalog at Spanish.
Ang register ay tungkol sa appropriateness ng wika sa situation. May tatlong aspects to: larangan , modo (medium ng communication), at tenor .
Pro Tip: Understanding ng different varieties ng wika ay tutulong sa iyo maging more effective communicator sa lahat ng situation!
Gamit ng Wika sa Lipunan
Ang wika ay hindi lang para sa komunikasyon - may iba't ibang gamit ito sa lipunan according sa mga experts. Si MAK Halliday ay nag-identify ng anim na functions ng wika na makikita natin araw-araw.
Personal function - kapag nagse-share ka ng opinion mo sa socmed. Instrumental function - yung mga catchy taglines ng products na nakikita mo. Inter-aksyonal function - yung pakikipag-chat mo sa mga friends mo online.
Si Roman Jakobson naman, founder ng Linguistic Circle of New York, ay nag-focus sa semiotics - yung pag-aaral ng mga signs at symbols. Ayon sa kanya, ginagamit natin ang wika para sa panghihikayat, pagpapahayag ng damdamin, at pagsimula ng pakikipag-ugnayan.
May patalinghaga din na function ng wika - yung masining na paggamit nito sa literature at poetry. Lahat ng functions na ito ay nagpapatunay na ang wika ay living, dynamic tool na essential sa pang-araw-araw nating buhay.

The app's just great! All I have to do is enter the topic in the search bar and I get the response real fast. I don't have to watch 10 YouTube videos to understand something, so I'm saving my time. Highly recommended!

I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend

This app is phenomenal down to the correct info and the various topics you can study! I greatly recommend it for people who struggle with procrastination and those who need homework help. It has been perfectly accurate for world 1 history as far as I’ve seen! Geometry too!
