Protein acts as the building blocks for muscle growth and repair after those tough training sessions.
Fats might sound scary, but they're brilliant for longer, lower-intensity activities and help your body absorb vitamins. Don't forget about micronutrients - vitamins and minerals like iron and calcium that don't give you energy but keep your body's systems running smoothly.
Top Tip: Even mild dehydration can seriously damage your performance, so staying properly hydrated is absolutely crucial for any athlete.

Getting your pre-exercise nutrition spot-on means you won't run out of steam halfway through training or feel your stomach rumbling during a match. It's all about timing and choosing the right foods that won't leave you feeling sluggish.
