Vrije en schaarse goederen
Vrije goederen krijg je gratis zonder dat er productiemiddelen voor zijn ingezet - denk aan zonlicht of lucht. Schaarse goederen kosten wel productiemiddelen om te maken, dus daar moet je voor betalen.
Het kernprobleem? Onze behoeften zijn onbeperkt, maar onze middelen zijn dat niet. Daarom maken we constant keuzes. Elke keuze heeft opofferingskosten - dat is de waarde van wat je opgeeft voor iets anders.
Geld heeft drie belangrijke functies: als ruilmiddel (makkelijk handelen), als rekenmiddel (waarden vergelijken), en als spaarmiddel (consumptie uitstellen).
💡 Onthoud dit: Als je kiest om naar de bioscoop te gaan in plaats van te werken, zijn je opofferingskosten het loon dat je had kunnen verdienen!
Stroomgrootheden meet je over een periode (zoals maandelijkse uitgaven), voorraadgrootheden op één moment (zoals je spaargeld vandaag).
Sparen, lenen en tijd
Intertemporele ruil betekent dat je consumptie verschuift in de tijd. Sparen is consumptie uitstellen naar later, lenen is consumptie vervroegen naar nu.
Je tijdsvoorkeur bepaalt hoe graag je nu wilt consumeren versus later. Hoge tijdsvoorkeur? Dan leen je eerder. Lage tijdsvoorkeur? Dan spaar je liever.
Investeren in menselijk kapitaal (opleiding en vaardigheden) betekent nu minder consumeren, maar later meer verdienen. Laatverdieners kunnen hun achterstand vaak inhalen.
💡 Denk hieraan: Hoe hoger je opleiding, hoe hoger meestal je verdiencapaciteit later wordt.
De rente is de marktprijs van tijd - het vertelt je wat sparen oplevert of wat lenen kost. Iedereen heeft ook een individuele prijs van tijd: hoeveel je bereid bent te betalen om nu te consumeren.
Budget en speltheorie
Met een budgetlijn zie je alle combinaties van twee producten die je kunt kopen met je budget. Als je voorkeuren veranderen, verschuif je langs de lijn. Als je budget of prijzen veranderen, verschuift de hele lijn.
Speltheorie helpt je begrijpen waarom mensen bepaalde keuzes maken. Een dominante strategie werkt altijd het beste, ongeacht wat de ander doet.
Het Nash-evenwicht is een situatie waarin niemand zijn resultaat kan verbeteren door alleen zijn strategie te veranderen. Soms is dit suboptimaal - beide spelers zouden beter af zijn met een andere uitkomst.
💡 Belangrijk: Het gevangenendilemma toont waarom samenwerking moeilijk is, zelfs als het voor iedereen beter zou zijn.
Samenwerking kan helpen, maar vereist vertrouwen. Dit werkt beter bij herhaalde spellen, bindende afspraken, of sterke sociale normen.
Soorten inkomen
Je arbeidsinkomen komt uit werk - loon als werknemer of winst als ondernemer. Kapitaalinkomen verdien je met bezittingen zoals aandelen of huurwoningen.
Mensen die niet genoeg verdienen krijgen overdrachtsinkomen van de overheid - uitkeringen en toeslagen die gefinancierd worden door belasting- en premiebetalers.
Nederland gebruikt het boxenstelsel: Box 1 belast inkomen uit werk en woning, Box 2 en 3 gaan over kapitaalinkomen.
💡 Handig om te weten: Je brutoloon min loonheffing = je nettoloon.
Van je bruto jaarinkomen trek je eerst aftrekposten af (zoals hypotheekrente) en tel je bijtellingen bij (zoals auto van de zaak). Wat overblijft is je belastbaar inkomen.
Belasting berekenen in drie stappen
Stap 1: Begin met bruto jaarinkomen, tel bijtellingen bij, trek aftrekposten eraf. Het resultaat is je belastbaar inkomen.
Stap 2: Dit inkomen wordt verdeeld over belastingschijven. Elke schijf heeft een eigen tarief. Je betaalt alleen het hogere tarief over het deel dat in die schijf valt.
Stap 3: Trek heffingskortingen af van je belastingbedrag. De algemene heffingskorting krijgt iedereen, de arbeidskorting alleen werkenden.
💡 Let op: Je betaalt nooit over je hele inkomen het hoogste tarief - alleen over het deel dat in de hoogste schijf valt!
Je gemiddelde heffingstarief bereken je door je totale belasting te delen door je bruto inkomen, maal 100%. Dit is je werkelijke belastingdruk.
Belastingstelsels en tarieven
Het draagkrachtbeginsel betekent: wie meer verdient, betaalt relatief meer belasting. Dit gebeurt via ons progressieve belastingstelsel met oplopende tarieven per schijf.
Progressief = hogere inkomens betalen hoger percentage (nivellering - verschillen worden kleiner). Degressief = lagere percentages bij hogere inkomens (denivellering). Proportioneel = iedereen hetzelfde percentage.
Het marginale belastingtarief is wat je betaalt over je laatst verdiende euro - altijd het tarief van je hoogste schijf.
💡 Verrassend: Zelfs een vlaktaks wordt progressief met heffingskortingen, omdat die korting meer betekent voor lagere inkomens.
Bij een vlaktaks zonder kortingen betaalt iedereen hetzelfde percentage. Met heffingskortingen betalen lagere inkomens relatief minder, wat zorgt voor nivellering.
Directe vs indirecte belastingen
Directe belastingen hef je over inkomen en vermogen (inkomstenbelasting, winstbelasting). Hier geldt het draagkrachtbeginsel - meer verdienen betekent meer betalen.
Indirecte belastingen hef je over aankopen (btw, accijnzen, wegenbelasting). Hier geldt het profijtbeginsel - meer gebruiken betekent meer betalen, ongeacht je inkomen.
Effect: Directe belastingen drukken harder op hogere inkomens. Indirecte belastingen drukken harder op lagere inkomens, omdat die een groter deel van hun inkomen uitgeven.
💡 Belangrijk verschil: Rijke mensen sparen meer, dus indirecte belastingen raken hen minder hard dan directe belastingen.
Herverdeling werkt zo: je primaire inkomen (uit arbeid en kapitaal) plus uitkeringen/toeslagen = bruto-inkomen. Daarvan af belastingen en premies = secundair of besteedbaar inkomen.
Inkomensongelijkheid meten
De Lorenzcurve toont hoeveel procent van het totale inkomen een bepaald percentage huishoudens verdient. Hoe dichter bij de diagonaal, hoe gelijker de verdeling.
De Gini-coëfficiënt meet ongelijkheid met een getal tussen 0 (volledig gelijk) en 1 (volledig ongelijk). Hoe verder de curve van de diagonaal, hoe hoger de Gini.
De 80/20-ratio vergelijkt het inkomensaandeel van de rijkste 20% met de armste 20%. Een ratio van 5,5 betekent dat de rijkste 20% 5,5 keer zoveel verdient.
💡 Praktisch: Nederland heeft een Gini-coëfficiënt van ongeveer 0,29 - dat is relatief gelijk vergeleken met andere landen.
Herverdelingsdilemma: Meer herverdeling kan rechtvaardiger zijn, maar kan ook mensen minder motiveren om te werken of zich te ontwikkelen (doelmatigheid).
Belastingwig en uitkeringen
De belastingwig is het verschil tussen wat een werkgever betaalt en wat de werknemer netto overhoudt. Een grote wig ontmoedigt werken en aannemen.
Doelmatigheid van belastingen: te hoge belastingen op arbeid verminderen de werkprikkel en investeringen in menselijk kapitaal, wat de productiviteit schaadt.
Uitkeringenprobleem: Als uitkeringen te dichtbij het minimumloon liggen, loont werken nauwelijks. Toeslagen (huur, zorg, kinderopvang) kunnen dit verergeren.
💡 Belangrijk dilemma: Mensen met lage inkomens kunnen bij meer werken nauwelijks financieel vooruitgaan door wegvallende toeslagen.
Terugvorderingen van toeslagen treffen vaak lage inkomens hard, vooral bij wisselende inkomsten. Dit kan tot schuldenproblematiek leiden.
Asymmetrische informatie en verzekeringen
Asymmetrische informatie ontstaat wanneer de ene partij meer weet dan de andere - zoals een verkoper die de gebreken van zijn auto verzwijgt.
Mensen zijn meestal risicomijdend en willen zekerheid. Transactiekosten zijn alle kosten om een ruil tot stand te brengen: tijd, moeite, contracten, informatie verzamelen.
Een goede reputatie helpt bedrijven transactiekosten te verlagen omdat klanten hen sneller vertrouwen. Ook overheidsregels beschermen kopers en verkopers.
💡 Slim principe: Contracten en garanties helpen risico's verkleinen, maar kosten ook tijd en geld.
Verzekeringen werken door risico's te spreiden. Je betaalt een premie aan de verzekeraar, die daarmee claims van alle verzekerden betaalt plus eigen kosten en winst.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! Knowunity is the BEST app I’ve used in a minute. This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming. I love it and my mom is just happy I got good grades

Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it.
