Associative and Distributive Properties

This page introduces key arithmetic properties, focusing on the associative and distributive properties. These fundamental concepts are crucial for understanding more advanced mathematical operations.

Definition: The associative property states that the grouping of numbers in addition and multiplication does not affect the result.

Example: axba x b x c = a x (b x c)

The distributive property is explained with practical examples:

Example: a x b+cb + c = a x b + a x c

Highlight: While addition and multiplication are associative, subtraction and division are not.

The page also covers special properties related to multiplying and dividing by one, as well as multiplying by zero.

Vocabulary:

  • Associative property: The grouping of numbers does not affect the result in addition and multiplication
  • Distributive property: Multiplying a number by a sum is the same as multiplying the number by each addend and then adding the products

Mental Math Addition and Subtraction Techniques

This section introduces practical techniques for performing mental math calculations quickly and efficiently. The focus is on addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers.

Highlight: Every two-digit number can be broken down into a multiple of ten plus a single-digit number, making mental calculations easier.

The document provides a step-by-step approach to adding two-digit numbers mentally:

  1. Break down each number into tens and ones
  2. Add the tens
  3. Add the ones
  4. Combine the results

Example: To add 47 + 36 mentally:

  1. 47 = 40 + 7, 36 = 30 + 6
  2. 40 + 30 = 70
  3. 7 + 6 = 13
  4. 70 + 13 = 83

Several practice exercises are provided to reinforce this technique.

Vocabulary:

  • Mental math: Performing calculations in your head without writing them down
  • Teknik perhitungan mental penjumlahan dan pengurangan pdf: Mental calculation techniques for addition and subtraction

Advanced Subtraction Techniques

This page delves deeper into mental math techniques for subtraction. It introduces a method for subtracting two-digit numbers by breaking them down into tens and ones.

Highlight: When each digit of the first number is larger than the corresponding digit in the second number, subtraction can be simplified by separating the tens and ones.

The document explains the concept of "borrowing" in subtraction, reframing it as adding the same amount to both numbers to make the calculation easier.

Example: To subtract 56 - 19 mentally:

  1. Add 1 to both numbers: 57 - 20
  2. Calculate: 57 - 20 = 37

Several practice exercises are provided to reinforce these subtraction techniques.

Vocabulary:

  • Borrowing: In subtraction, taking a value from a higher place value to enable subtraction in a lower place value
  • Cara menghitung cepat dengan otak: Methods for quick mental calculations

Arithmetic and Fractions

This section introduces the concept of real numbers and their properties. It explains that real numbers include all numbers on the number line, encompassing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Definition: A real number is any number on the number line, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

The document clarifies that when a math problem refers to a "number," it can be positive, negative, or zero, and can be a whole number, fraction, or decimal.

Highlight: Zero is the only number that is neither positive nor negative.

The concept of integers is introduced, defined as all positive and negative whole numbers, including zero.

Vocabulary:

  • Real number: Any number on the number line
  • Integer: A whole number that can be positive, negative, or zero
  • Aritmatika Matematika: Arithmetic mathematics

Fundamental Arithmetic Properties

This page discusses fundamental arithmetic properties that apply to all real numbers. It introduces the use of variables (a, b, c) to represent real numbers in mathematical expressions.

The commutative property is explained for addition and multiplication:

Definition: The commutative property allows changing the order of numbers in addition and multiplication without affecting the result.

Example: a + b = b + a, and a × b = b × a

The document notes that subtraction and division are generally not commutative.

Highlight: While addition and multiplication are commutative, subtraction and division are not.

Vocabulary:

  • Commutative property: The ability to change the order of numbers in addition and multiplication without affecting the result
  • Distributive property examples: Illustrations of how the distributive property works in mathematical operations

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! In the end I think it’s worth it 😊👍 ⚠️Also DID I MENTION ITS FREEE YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING AND STILL GET YOUR GRADES IN PERFECTLY❗️❗️⚠️

I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend

Best app if you're in Highschool or Junior high. I have been using this app for 2 school years and it's the best, it's good if you don't have anyone to help you with school work.😋🩷🎀

This app is phenomenal down to the correct info and the various topics you can study! I greatly recommend it for people who struggle with procrastination and those who need homework help. It has been perfectly accurate for world 1 history as far as I’ve seen! Geometry too!
