Need to understand how to find the area of different... Show more

Area measures how much space is inside a shape, counted in square units (like square feet or square meters). Each shape has its own special formula:
For squares, multiply the side length by itself (s²). A square with 3-meter sides has an area of 9 square meters.
For rectangles, multiply length times width (l × w). If you have a rectangle that's 5 feet by 4 inches, just multiply these numbers to find the area.
For triangles, use half the base times height (½ × b × h). This works for any triangle, no matter what the angles are!
Remember This! Area always has square units (square feet, square meters, etc.) because you're measuring a 2-dimensional space.
Other important shapes include parallelograms , rhombuses , and trapezoids .

When calculating areas, always pay attention to the measurements you're given. For triangles with a 7-inch base and 5-inch height, the area equals ½ × 7 × 5 = 17.5 square inches.
Parallelograms might look slanted, but their area formula is simple: base × height. For a parallelogram with a 7 cm base and 14 cm height, the area is 98 square centimeters.
Rhombuses can be calculated using either the base and height (like a parallelogram) or by multiplying the diagonals and dividing by 2. This makes solving problems flexible depending on what information you have.
Pro Tip: For trapezoids, think "average of the bases times height." The formula ½ × h × is just finding the average of the two parallel sides and multiplying by the height!
When working with these shapes, always check your units to make sure your final answer makes sense.

Word problems about area connect math to real life! For example, finding the height of a triangular pennant when you know the base (1.5 feet) and area (2.25 square feet) means using the triangle formula: A = ½ × b × h.
Rearrange the formula to solve for height: h = 2A ÷ b = 2 × 2.25 ÷ 1.5 = 3 feet. That's how tall the pennant is!
For trapezoid problems, like finding the width of a garden with an area of 44.4 square meters and bases of 4.3 and 10.5 meters, use the trapezoid formula. Solve for height: h = 2A ÷ = 2 × 44.4 ÷ (4.3 + 10.5) = 6 meters.
Think About It: Area problems in real life often involve things like ordering materials (sod, carpet, paint) where you need to know exactly how much to buy!
When a parallelogram field needs sod and each pallet covers 50 square meters, first find the total area , then divide by 50 to find how many pallets you need.

Sometimes shapes aren't simple rectangles or triangles—they're composite figures made up of multiple basic shapes put together. No problem! You can break them down into shapes you know.
To find the area of composite figures:
For example, an L-shaped figure can be divided into two rectangles. If one rectangle is 20 ft × 60 ft and the other is 16 ft × 18 ft, the total area would be 1,200 + 288 = 1,488 square feet.
Smart Strategy: When dividing composite figures, choose the simplest shapes possible—usually rectangles, triangles, or trapezoids work best!
Real-world applications include calculating how much mulch you need for an oddly-shaped garden or determining carpet costs for irregular room layouts. For Teresa's garden problem, you'd find the total square footage and divide by 12 to determine how many bags of mulch to buy.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! In the end I think it’s worth it 😊👍 ⚠️Also DID I MENTION ITS FREEE YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING AND STILL GET YOUR GRADES IN PERFECTLY❗️❗️⚠️

Knowunity is the BEST app I’ve used in a minute. This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming. I love it and my mom is just happy I got good grades

I found this app a couple years ago and it has only gotten better since then. I really love it because it can help with written questions and photo questions. Also, it can find study guides that other people have made as well as flashcard sets and practice tests. The free version is also amazing for students who might not be able to afford it. Would 100% recommend
