Breuken en Kommagetallen Begrijpen - Praktische Tips

Leerdoelen en Overzicht
Je gaat leren hoe je breuken omzet naar kommagetallen en andersom, zodat je altijd de makkelijkste vorm kunt kiezen voor je berekening. Ook leer je alle vier de rekenkundige bewerkingen met breuken en kommagetallen.
Bij praktische problemen zoals het verdelen van pizza of het aanpassen van recepten, kun je straks moeiteloos kiezen of je met breuken of kommagetallen werkt. De bewerkingsvolgorde toepassen wordt een fluitje van een cent.
Handig om te weten: Breuken en kommagetallen stellen precies hetzelfde voor - het zijn gewoon verschillende manieren om een getal op te schrijven!
Breuken en Kommagetallen Begrijpen
Een breuk bestaat uit een teller (bovenaan) en een noemer (onderaan). De noemer zegt in hoeveel stukken iets verdeeld is, de teller hoeveel stukken je hebt.
Een breuk omzetten naar kommagetal doe je door de teller te delen door de noemer. Bijvoorbeeld: 3/4 = 3 ÷ 4 = 0,75. Als je een pizza in 8 stukken verdeelt en 3 stukken opeet, heb je 3/8 = 0,375 van de pizza gegeten.
Kommagetallen omzetten naar breuken werkt andersom. Bij één cijfer achter de komma gebruik je 10 als noemer, bij twee cijfers 100, enzovoort. Daarna vereenvoudig je: 0,25 = 25/100 = 1/4.
Let op: Je kunt altijd controleren of je omzetting klopt door de breuk weer terug te delen!
Optellen en Aftrekken van Breuken
Bij het optellen en aftrekken van breuken moeten de noemers altijd gelijk zijn. Als ze dat al zijn, tel je gewoon de tellers op: 2/5 + 1/5 = 3/5.
Hebben de breuken verschillende noemers? Dan zoek je eerst het kleinste gemeenschappelijke veelvoud (KGV) van beide noemers. Bij 1/3 + 1/4 is dat 12, dus wordt het 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12.
Een praktijkvoorbeeld: je hebt 3/4 liter melk en gebruikt 1/3 liter voor een recept. Er blijft over: 3/4 - 1/3 = 9/12 - 4/12 = 5/12 liter. Aftrekken werkt precies hetzelfde als optellen.
Ezelsbruggetje: Gelijke noemers = makkelijk rekenen. Ongelijke noemers = eerst gelijk maken!
Vermenigvuldigen van Breuken
Vermenigvuldigen van breuken is eigenlijk het makkelijkst van allemaal. Je vermenigvuldigt gewoon teller × teller en noemer × noemer: 2/3 × 3/4 = 6/12 = 1/2.
Slimmer rekenen doe je door vooraf te vereenvoudigen. Bij 4/9 × 3/8 kun je 4 en 8 delen door 4, en 3 en 9 door 3. Dan krijg je 1/3 × 1/2 = 1/6.
Een breuk vermenigvuldigen met een heel getal is simpel: vermenigvuldig alleen de teller. Voor 6 personen in plaats van 4 heb je 2/3 × 6 = 12/3 = 4 liter bouillon nodig.
Onthoud: Bij vermenigvuldigen hoef je geen gemeenschappelijke noemer te zoeken - dat scheelt een hoop werk!
Delen van Breuken
Delen door een breuk is hetzelfde als vermenigvuldigen met het omgekeerde van die breuk. Het omgekeerde van 3/4 is 4/3 - je wisselt teller en noemer gewoon om.
Dus: 3/4 ÷ 2/5 = 3/4 × 5/2 = 15/8. Waarom werkt dit? Delen door 1/2 betekent: "hoeveel halve delen passen erin?" Dat is hetzelfde als × 2.
Praktijkvoorbeeld: uit 3/4 meter stof wil je stukken van 1/8 meter knippen. Aantal stukken: 3/4 ÷ 1/8 = 3/4 × 8/1 = 6 stukken. Heel getal delen door breuk doe je door het hele getal eerst als breuk te schrijven: 6 ÷ 2/3 = 6/1 × 3/2 = 9.
Trucje: "Delen wordt vermenigvuldigen met omgekeerde" - zeg dit een paar keer hardop, dan onthoud je het!
Rekenen met Kommagetallen
Bij kommagetallen optellen en aftrekken zet je de getallen onder elkaar met de komma's precies onder elkaar. Dan reken je kolom voor kolom: 12,75 + 3,8 = 16,55.
Vermenigvuldigen met kommagetallen doe je in drie stappen: tel eerst alle cijfers achter de komma . Vermenigvuldig dan alsof het hele getallen zijn: 25 × 12 = 300. Plaats tenslotte de komma: 3,00 = 3.
Bij delen van kommagetallen werk je de komma's weg door beide getallen met 10, 100 of 1000 te vermenigvuldigen. Zo wordt 7,2 ÷ 1,8 gewoon 72 ÷ 18 = 4.
Handig: Kommagetallen zijn vaak sneller dan breuken, vooral bij complexe berekeningen!
