Basics of Human Physiology: Understanding Body Structures and Functions

Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology
Anatomy is the study of body structures and their relationships, while physiology focuses on how the body and its parts function. These fields are inseparable because form follows function—the structure of any body part is designed specifically for its purpose.
The human hand perfectly demonstrates this relationship. Its numerous bones allow for varied movements, while opposable thumbs enable gripping. Sensory neurons in fingertips provide our sense of touch, and fingernails offer both protection and a hard surface for manipulation.
When studying the body, we use standard references like the anatomical position: standing erect with feet together, palms forward, and looking forward. This gives us consistent terminology for describing body parts: distal (farther from attachment), proximal (closer to attachment), superior/cranial (toward the head), and inferior/caudal (toward the feet). Other important terms include lateral (away from midline), medial (toward midline), anterior/ventral (front), and posterior/dorsal (back).
Did you know? Anatomical planes help us visualize body sections: the transverse plane divides the body into top and bottom sections, the sagittal plane splits it into left and right, and the frontal (coronal) plane separates front from back.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.
This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
Basics of Human Physiology: Understanding Body Structures and Functions
Anatomy and Physiology form the foundation of understanding how our bodies work. Anatomy examines body structures while physiology explores how these structures function. Together, they show us that in the human body, form always follows function.
