Linear and Non-Linear Plot Structures
When you read a story, the plot can either follow a straight timeline (linear) or jump around in time . Authors use non-linear plots to create suspense or reveal important background information. For example, a flashback takes you back in time to show something that happened before the main story, helping you understand a character's motivations or decisions.
Authors also use techniques like foreshadowing to hint at future events, which creates anticipation and makes you curious about what will happen next. Some stories contain subplots (secondary storylines) that connect to the main plot, while parallel plots feature multiple related narratives connected by a character, theme, or event.
Every story follows a basic structure with six main parts. The exposition introduces the setting and characters, followed by the inciting incident that presents the main conflict. The rising action builds tension through a series of events leading to the climax – the most intense moment of the story. After this peak, the falling action shows the consequences, and finally, the resolution wraps everything up.
Remember this! Think of plot as the skeleton of a story – it gives the narrative its shape and structure. When you understand plot elements, you can better predict what might happen next in stories you read.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! Knowunity is the BEST app I’ve used in a minute. This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming. I love it and my mom is just happy I got good grades
