HOW TO STAY ORGANISED ● As a student, juggling revision, exams and having a social life can be very difficult. I've put together a list of the four main techniques I use to stay organised. 1 2 3 4 1 TIMETABLES EVERYWHERE ● ● .. ● • ● ● ● ● ● ● ● · · 1 TIMETABLES EVERYWHERE Your school timetable is essential to staying organised so you can prepare for the right classes and be there at the right time. Sure, you can remember it, but when you have exams to revise for, memorising your timetable isn't something you want to stress over. By keeping your timetable out of your head, but just around when you need it, you can free up some of that head space for something more important. I KEEP MY TIMETABLE EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING: ON MY PHONE I use the School Planner app to type up my timetable and keep it as a widget on my homescreen. I also design an abbreviated version of my timetable on Canva or Google Draw and set this as my lock screen. ON MY LAPTOP I use Canva or Google Draw to design a timetable for my desktop wallpaper as well. D IN MY FOLDER For Sixth Form, I use one "day" folder for all three of my subjects, so by sticking a version of my timetable to the inner cover, I can easily see what lesson I have next when I might not be allowed my phone out. Similarly...

Alternative transcript:

if you are in school, you can use your planner to stick or write in your timetable. IN MY BEDROOM You get ready in your bedroom so it's handy to have a timetable to just look over whilst your hands may be full. I print out a version of my timetable, stick it on some card and hang or pin it up somewhere. 2 TO DO LISTS ● ● . ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● |||| I've been using to do lists for a few months now and they have really revolutionised my productivity- plus ticking off those tasks just gives me a little boost to keep going! There are plenty of great to do list apps, but I think the best one is Todoist. You can add tags to your tasks, set a target of doing a certain number of tasks every day and choose to set a day to do the task using shortcuts like "tod" for today or "tmr" for tomorrow. TODOIST HERE'S HOW I LIKE TO USE TODOIST: I create a project called "To Do List" and add 3 sections- Today's Tasks, Recurring Tasks and Optional Tasks- and fill them with the appropriate tasks. I then add it as a widget to my homescreen and set it so I only see the tasks due today. Today's Tasks are what I want to do today- usually only 3 or 4 Today's Tasks 4 Do Geography cover work Today Homework Geography Write up today's vocab in flashcards app Today Revision Spanish Revise next two pages for upcoming exam Tomorrow Revision Physics Make organisation presentation Personal + Add task : Recurring Tasks are things I want to do on a regular basis Recurring Tasks 3 Water plant Today Personal Practice Spanish flashcards Tomorrow Revision Spanish Practice piano Tuesday Personal + Add task : Optional Tasks are things I can do if I finish Today's Tasks Optional Tasks 5 Complete translation for Thursday Homework Spanish Work on Geography project Homework Geography Hand in field trip consent form by Friday Geography Pre-read next Physics topic Revision Physics Finish watching Sex Education on Netflix Personal + Add task ...+ 3 MASTER GOOGLE APPS ● ● ● ● ● 0 ● · ● ● ● ● Learning the basics of how to use Google Drive, Google Docs and other Google related apps can be really useful if you do a lot of your revision online and can also make your learning much more efficient GOOGLE DRIVE Set up folders for each of your subjects and make sure to put any work you do online in them. Having the app on your phone means you can access things from anywhere. Although it may seem difficult at the start, Google Sheets can be very useful. I use it to write down all my flashcards and learning to use it effectively can be helpful in future studies. GOOGLE DOCS Creating a style for all your titles and headings and saving them can make all your documents look clean and make the big ones easy to navigate through the use of the outline. OTHER APPS Google Draw handy in making graphics and is very simple to use. I particularly like their formatting option which lets you get the positioning of shapes exact to 2 decimals. Google Calendar can also help you plan out your activities and in sixth form can be especially useful when it comes to open days and supercurricular lectures. 4 BOOKMARKS ● ● . ● ● ● ● ● • ● ● Working on a computer can make your revision and learning very efficient, but to take that to the next level, you should use bookmarks. But constantly saving random websites can make your bookmarks get messy and difficult to navigate. That's why you should utilise the folders and create a system. I HAVE 3 CATEGORIES TO ORGANISE MY BOOKMARKS. 1 My Toolbar Here, I keep my most important websites that I'll use the most often such as Google Classroom, Google Calendar, BBC weather for my city, a youtube video with my favourite study music and my coursework Google Doc. 2 School This is in my Bookmark menu and I keep 4 folders here, one for each of my subjects and an extra one for general things such as my school email and google drive. For my subject folders, I'll include any websites I get assignments on, places I can find practice questions and documents I use to write up my revision notes. 3 Personal This is also in my Bookmark menu and I include 3 folders: useful websites, accounts and social media. In useful websites I'll have interesting or useful websites I find such as articles and ALT code lists. In accounts I have anything that requires an account to access such as my personal Google apps and Canva. Social media is self-explanatory. I hope you found this useful and picked up some tips on how to stay more organised. If you have any questions or want me to elaborate on anything, please don't hesitate to comment or message me. I have plans to make some more detailed resources on some of the things mentioned here (like how I use Todoist) but if you have any requests, please say!
