Dividing Fractions Step-by-Step

Ever wondered how to divide one fraction by another? Let's break it down with this example: 65÷58\frac{6}{5} \div \frac{5}{8}

First, find a common denominator for both fractions. Multiply 65\frac{6}{5} by 88\frac{8}{8} to get 4840\frac{48}{40}. Then multiply 58\frac{5}{8} by 55\frac{5}{5} to get 2540\frac{25}{40}. Now both fractions have the same denominator!

Next, divide the numerators and keep the denominator the same. So 4840÷2540=4825\frac{48}{40} \div \frac{25}{40} = \frac{48}{25}.

Finally, simplify your answer. Divide 48 by 25 to get 123251\frac{23}{25}. That's your final answer!

Remember: When both fractions have the same denominator, dividing fractions becomes dividing their numerators while keeping the denominator the same!
