mechanics: the study of the motion of objects.

Kinematics: the science of describing the motion of objects.

Introduction to Kinematics

Kinematics helps us describe motion using both scalar quantities (which have only magnitude) and vector quantities (which have both magnitude and direction). This distinction is crucial for understanding how objects move through space.

The basic quantities in kinematics start with position (where something is located, measured in meters) and time (when something happens, measured in seconds). From these, we derive distance (the length of the path traveled) and displacement thestraightlinevectorfromstarttofinish, calculatedasΔx=xexithe straight-line vector from start to finish, calculated as Δx = xₑ - xᵢ.

When describing how fast things move, we use speed (a scalar quantity measured in meters per second) and velocity (a vector quantity also in meters per second). Finally, acceleration measures how quickly velocity changes, expressed in meters per second squared m/s2m/s².

💡 Remember this key difference: Distance tells you how far something traveled along its path, while displacement only cares about the start and end points - like a crow flying directly between two locations!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.

Kinematics is the branch of physics that describes how objects move without worrying about what causes the motion. It's the foundation of mechanics, using various tools like graphs, equations, and vectors to track position, speed, and acceleration of objects.
