Talumpati (Speech)
Talumpati is the art of expressing ideas or knowledge through the spoken word. It's carefully written to be delivered to an audience, showcasing an artful discussion of a relevant topic. You'll encounter four main types based on delivery style:
Impromptu speeches require no preparation as speakers are given topics right before speaking. In contrast, extemporaneous speeches allow a few minutes to organize thoughts, often using only an outline. Manuscript speeches, commonly used in conventions and seminars, are carefully studied and written beforehand. Lastly, memorized speeches are well-prepared but can falter if the speaker forgets parts.
💡 The best speakers adapt their delivery style to match their audience and purpose. Even memorized speeches should sound natural, not robotic!
Understanding these delivery methods will help you choose the right approach for different speaking situations, whether in class presentations, competitions, or community events.
