Cell Organelles
The cell has many important parts that work together. The nucleus acts as the cell's brain, while the cell membrane forms a protective barrier around it. Inside cells, you'll find the cytoplasm, a jelly-like fluid where other structures float.
Plant cells have special parts like the chloroplast for making food from sunlight and a rigid cell wall for support. Both plant and animal cells contain mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for transporting materials.
Other important organelles include the Golgi Complex that packages materials, ribosomes that make proteins, and vacuoles that store water and nutrients. Inside the nucleus, you'll find chromosomes containing genetic information.
Fun Fact: Your body contains about 30 trillion cells, each with most of these organelles working non-stop to keep you alive!

Cell Organelle Functions
The cell membrane works like a security guard, being selectively permeable - letting helpful things in while keeping harmful things out. The nucleus is like the cell's brain, controlling all activities that happen inside. The cytoplasm is the jelly-like substance that gives the cell its shape and holds all the organelles in place.
Plant cells contain chloroplasts that trap sunlight and convert it to food energy through photosynthesis. The mitochondria function as the powerhouse of the cell, creating energy the cell needs to function.
Chromosomes found in the nucleus contain all the genetic information that makes you unique. These thread-like structures carry instructions for everything from your eye color to how tall you'll grow.
Remember: Even though you can't see them without a microscope, these tiny organelles work together perfectly to keep cells (and you) alive!

Vacuoles are storage sacs that hold water and nutrients for the cell to use when needed. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) serves as a transportation system, moving proteins and other materials throughout the cell.
The cell wall is found only in plant cells and some other organisms. It's the tough outer layer that gives plants their structure and helps protect them. Ribosomes are tiny factories that make proteins according to instructions from the nucleus.
Lysosomes act as the cell's recycling center, breaking down waste materials and worn-out cell parts. These small sacs contain enzymes that can digest almost anything inside the cell that needs to be removed.
