Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Cells
All living cells share some basic structures. DNA contains genetic information for heredity, ribosomes produce proteins, cytoplasm is the jelly-like substance supporting organelles, and the cell membrane controls what enters and exits the cell.
Organisms fall into two major categories based on their cell type. Prokaryotes are simple, single-celled organisms without membrane-bound structures. Eukaryotes are typically multicellular organisms with more complex cells containing membrane-bound organelles.
Prokaryotic cells have DNA floating freely in their cytoplasm and lack a true nucleus or membrane-bound organelles. In contrast, eukaryotic cells contain a true nucleus that houses their DNA, along with various specialized membrane-bound organelles that perform specific functions.
Quick Fact: The relationship between different organisms is called symbiosis. This interaction sometimes benefits both organisms but not always! Endosymbiosis is a special type of symbiosis where one organism actually lives inside another.
The Endosymbiotic Theory
Have you ever wondered how complex cells evolved? The endosymbiotic theory, validated by scientist Lynn Margulis, explains how two important organelles in eukaryotic cells—mitochondria and chloroplasts—originated from free-living bacteria that were engulfed by larger cells.
Through a process called phagocytosis, primitive cells engulfed aerobic bacteria that eventually became mitochondria. Similarly, cyanobacteria were engulfed and evolved into chloroplasts. Instead of being digested, these bacteria formed a mutually beneficial relationship with their host cells.
Several pieces of evidence support this theory. Both mitochondria and chloroplasts contain their own ribosomes, grow independently from the cell, match prokaryotic cells in size, and most importantly, contain their own DNA separate from the cell's nuclear DNA.
Real-World Application: Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is incredibly useful in forensic science! Since it's inherited only from your mother, forensic scientists use mitochondrial DNA typing to analyze crime scene samples and help solve missing person cases.

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!! This is not an ai review or anything this is genuinely coming from a 7th grade student (I know 2011 im young) but dude this app is a 10/10 i have maintained a 3.8 gpa and have plenty of time for gaming.
