Your upload allowance
On the free plan, photos and files you send in the AI chat or with a scan may use a daily upload allowance. It refills at midnight and differs between accounts and countries, so follow the amount in your app.
On your sign-up day you may get extra uploads; the app shows today's amount and the daily amount from tomorrow. Each photo or file counts as one upload once sent.
Some accounts have a limit per message instead. These limits are being tested; you cannot opt in or out, and support cannot change which test you are in.
When the limit is reached
If the app says Upload limit reached, it shows when your uploads reset. Tap I'll wait or view the upgrade options.
If you added more files than you have left today, remove some. If the app says You've added the maximum number of files. Remove one to add another., send the message and add the rest in a new one.
Uploads for a study plan
Files you add to a study plan, at creation or later under Materials, do not use your daily upload allowance. On the free plan and with Pro, a study plan holds up to 6 files; after that the app says Maximum materials reached.
Messages in one chat
On the free plan, one chat holds a limited number of answers. If you see You've reached the message limit for this chat!, tap Start a new chat, or Upgrade to Pro to stay in the same chat. The number can differ between accounts while this is tested.
Smart answers and other limits
In most countries, the free plan includes 3 Smart answers a day. When they are used up, you see You've run out of free Smart answers! Tap Not now to keep chatting with standard answers until the next day, or Upgrade to see Pro.
Other limits, such as study plan practice, show their own refill time.
Pro and existing Max subscriptions
With Pro, there is no daily upload allowance in the app, but a limit on files per message still applies. Website uploads always use a limit per message. Max cannot be bought; if you already have Max, it keeps working.
File limits
- Documents can be up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages.
- If a file is incompatible, export it as a PDF.
- If the app says This file is no longer on your device. Please select it again., choose it again.
The upload fails
Try again on Wi-Fi and update the app. If it still fails, use the support form under A technical problem and attach a screenshot.
