Why does AI chat show memory notices?

Some accounts see memory loading or update notices and a Memory switch. These personalisation controls are being tested and do not delete your account.

Updated October 23, 2026

Some students see memory loading... or Memory updated in AI chat. These notices are being tested. Other accounts can have personalised conversations without seeing the notices. You cannot opt in or out of the test, and support cannot switch the notices on.

What the notices mean

The notices show that Knowie is loading or updating information used for personalisation. They are not a request for you to upload another file.

If you want an answer to use different information, explain the correction in your message. Check important answers against your course material.

The Memory switch

Some students also have a Memory switch in the attachment or tools panel. Open that panel and tap the switch to change the personalisation settings it controls. Other accounts do not have this shortcut.

Turning this switch off is not an account-deletion request. Do not use it as a way to delete your account or its chat history. See How do I delete my account? for account deletion.

Something looks wrong

If a notice stays on screen or personalisation seems incorrect, update the app and try again. Use the support form under AI or content quality if the problem continues. Include the notice and a screenshot, without sharing information you do not want support to see.
